Dubai International Airport soon to get Smart tunnel to speed up the Check Out Immigration process within 15 seconds by simply walking through bio-metric recognition systems. This will be first of its kind in the world.
The Smart Tunnel system at Dubai International Airport will use IRIS recognition technology. Using this technology passenger will first stand in front of the tunnel for the facial recognition. After that the passenger will walk through the tunnel and exited it in just a few seconds and that’s it at all. No passport stumping or any kind of human intervention will be involved in this whole process.
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai with collaboration with Emirates Airline will introduce Smart Tunnel at Dubai International Airport very soon. Smart Tunnel project is the part of the Dubai government’s accelerators initiative.
Major Khalid Al Felasi, Assistant General Director of Smart Services in GDRFA-Dubai, told reporters that the Smart Tunnels, is the new future of passport control in Dubai.
“It is the first of its kind in the world and it’s a bio-metric system that allows passengers to simply walk through the tunnel without doing anything. They don’t even need to show their passport. It works on face recognition technology and the passenger can finish entry procedure within 15 seconds”.
However, Officials didn’t release any launching time yet.
Major Al Felasi added: “It is a future project and we have one tunnel presented in Gitex and later we will go to the airport to check the tunnel’s features and see what we can add to it before implementing the project.”
